Morgan seems to pause after every two or three words and that slows the pace and removes the intensity, the sense of urgency, and the humor the author seems to apply to the narration.

(I do realize the audio version of the Color of Magic I just finished listening to was technically flawed and seemingly rather old, as shown in recent weeks by its removal from Audible), I hold no animus against Colin Morgan the narrator, but his performance is slow and plodding without the colorful qualities that Nigel Planer brought to The Color of Magic. These narrators brought fast-paced British wit and sardonic humor to those performances as comedic masters of the English language, as had Nigel Planer to The Color of Magic.

The Color of Magic was, to me, performed in the vein of Peter Jones, who narrated the original TV series of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and later Steven Fry in the 2005 film version. I had just finished Terry Pratchett's The Color of Magic and wanted to listen to book two, so I got The Light Fantastic in anticipation of another rousing, funny, and satirical story read in the sardonic and fast-paced way as The Color of Magic had been by Nigel Planer. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this. The first book in the Discworld series- The Colour of Magic-was published in 1983. The Light Fantastic is the second book in the Wizards series, but you can listen to the Discworld novels in any order. Which is a shame, because that's all there is. Or Twoflower, the well-meaning tourist whose luggage has a mind (and legs) of its own. What it doesn't need is Rincewind, an inept and cowardly wizard who is still recovering from the trauma of falling off the edge of the world. The Discworld is in danger, heading towards a seemingly inevitable collision with a malevolent red star, its magic fading. 'Darkness isn't the opposite of light, it is simply its absence.what was radiating from the book was the light that lies on the far side of darkness, the light fantastic.' Featuring a new theme tune composed by James Hannigan. BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor Bill Nighy ( Love Actually Pirates of the Caribbean Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ) reads the footnotes, and Peter Serafinowicz ( Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace Shaun of the Dead ) stars as the voice of Death. The audiobook of The Light Fantastic is read by Colin Morgan ( Merlin Testament of Youth Belfast ).
